André Letoit - Vêr van die Ou KalahariR400.00
This seminal work by André Letoit – a.k.a. Koos Kombuis – helped pave the way for a musical revolution in South Africa in the mid-eighties. Originally released through Shifty Records more than three decades ago, the album captured the energy, originality and poetic genius of an artist who was about to burst onto the South African music scene and change it forever.
The album was recorded live onto two-track at Shifty Studios in May '87. The album was only released on cassette tape, with a digital and CD version coming into existence a few years ago via Shifty Records. The ever elusive vinyl format, however, never saw the light of day. Until now.
The record was done in partnership with Shifty Records and is available in two colours – a classic black and a custom white & blue edition, both pressed on 140g vinyl. The package also includes a printed lyric inner sleeve and is exclusively available through Permanent Record until the end of August.
Also available is a limited edition A2 poster, drawn by the artist J.E. Foster, based on the original iconic photograph (taken by Joëlle Chesselet) of Letoit. 50 Hand-numbered prints will be made and only 20 of these prints are signed by Letoit and will be exclusively available here.
