There is nothing that separates the quality of South African artists from their international counterparts, except the fact that it is nearly impossible for a local artist to release music on vinyl.
While vinyl has again become (and used to be in SA) a standard output for artists, the fact that South Africa does not have a local vinyl press causes a lot of frustration for fans and musicians alike. Musicians want to see their hard work realised on wax, as much as music fans want to listen to their favorite artists on their turntables.
PERMANENT RECORD has a one single aim: To give South African artists the ability to release their music on vinyl. That, and to be at the forefront of the vinyl revolution in South Africa.
Founded in 2014 and not bound by any genre, PERMANENT RECORD strives to publish relevant South African artists. As such, the label focuses strongly on originality at the expense of following music trends.
