Welcome to Golden Grail's Record Grading information, where our adherence to the Goldmine Grading Standard ensures a meticulous evaluation of each vinyl's condition. We go beyond industry standards, guaranteeing a more conservative and stringent grading process.

Key Grading Information:

New & Sealed // New & Unsealed

  • New records are ungraded, sealed, and have never been opened.
  • New, unsealed records are marked accordingly.

Near Mint (NM)

  • Description: Looks as if it just left a retail store, nearly perfect.
  • Shiny, defect-free vinyl with no writing or spindle marks.
  • Covers are crease-free, with no ring wear or seam splits.

Very Good + (VG+)

  • Description: Close to Near Mint, with minimal flaws.
  • Slight signs of wear, light scuffs, or scratches that don't affect playback.
  • Covers may have minor wear, with slight seam issues or defacing.

Very Good (VG)

  • Description: Obvious flaws but excellent value.
  • Groove wear, scratches, and surface noise present, but not overpowering.
  • Covers exhibit signs of human handling, with noticeable ring wear.

Good Plus (G+)

  • Description: Some surface noise, plays through without skipping.

Good (G)

  • Description: Not bad, serves as filler, significant surface noise.
  • Covers show obvious signs of wear, ring marks, seam splits, and heavy writing.

Poor (P) and Fair (F)

  • Records are heavily damaged and play poorly.
  • Covers exhibit significant wear, cracks, and damage.
